How do I use my Solar Buddie?
Using your Solar Buddies refillable sunscreen applicator couldn’t be easier! Simply unscrew the yellow vessel and fill it with the sunscreen of your choice (we recommend SPF30 or higher – see our FAQ for more sunscreen advice). Screw the head back on, shake to move the sunscreen towards the roller ball, and you’re ready for smooth, mess-free sun protection.
Do Solar Buddies come filled with sunscreen?
No. All Solar Buddies applicators are sold as an empty vessel, giving you the flexibility to fill with your preferred sunscreen brand and SPF level. We do recommend using a medium to thick consistency and avoid oils or thin creams.
My sunscreen doesn’t reach the roller ball, what should I do?
Some thicker sunscreens need a little extra help to dispense. Try giving your Solar Buddie a good shake (like ketchup!) to push the cream down to the roller ball. You can also gently tap the container against the head to help the contents move into place.
How do I clean my Solar Buddie?
To keep your applicator hygienic, we recommend hand washing with warm water (not boiling). You can also use our specially designed Solar Buddies Cleaning Sponge for easy and effective cleaning. Avoid harsh scrubbing or soaking, and always allow the sponge and applicator to air dry fully before replacing the lid. For full guidance, see our cleaning tutorial video.
Should I keep my Solar Buddie out of direct sunlight?
Yes! Direct sunlight can damage your Solar Buddie applicator, causing fading, discoloration, and material deterioration. It can also thin your sunscreen, making it dispense too quickly and reducing its effectiveness. Always store your Solar Buddie and sunscreen in a cool, shaded place. For added protection, try our Solar Buddies insulated cool bags, the perfect accessory to keep your applicator safe in the heat.
